In June 2026 we ran “best financial advisor in Denver” on Perplexity, one of the major AI answer engines. What it returned was telling — and it overturns what most firms assume.
Finding 1
Even here, your Google reviews decide it.
You’d expect a credential-driven field to reward AUM, tenure, or designations. Instead, AI’s actual shortlist came from Google rating and review count — “a 5.0 with 244 reviews” — surfacing well-reviewed boutiques over larger, older firms. A polished review profile beats size. Finding 2
The directories don’t agree — so one listing isn’t enough.
The financial directories AI cited — NerdWallet, SmartAsset, Yelp, Expertise.com — each named an almost entirely different set of firms, and few matched the advisors AI ultimately recommended. Being on one “best advisor” list isn’t being the consensus. AI rewards a strong review profile plus broad, consistent presence across the sources it trusts.

Your website wasn’t the source.
AI built the answer from Google profiles and third-party directories — not advisors’ own websites. A firm with a thin Google profile and few directory listings simply doesn’t appear, no matter how strong its track record or how polished its site.
