Why isn’t my business showing up in ChatGPT or Google AI?

Almost always one of three reasons. When an AI assistant never mentions you, it’s not personal and it’s not random — it’s a gap the AI can read:

  1. No answer-shaped content. You haven’t published clear answers to the questions customers actually ask, so the AI has nothing of yours to quote.
  2. Thin or inconsistent information. Your name, services, and locations don’t match across the web, so the AI isn’t confident who you are — and it won’t recommend what it can’t pin down.
  3. Missing from the sources AI trusts. Assistants lean on reviews, directories, and press; if you’re absent there, you’re absent from the answer.

Notice what’s not on the list: ad spend and raw review count. In one audit, a business with 587 reviews was still left out of most answers.1 AI builds its answer from what it trusts, not from who paid or posted the most.
